Infrastructure
In the first 100 days of my administration, I will present a capital investment program to address the short term and long infrastructure needs of this community. This will include an evaluation of our aging water and sewer system. It is critical that we develop a plan to be proactive rather than reactive in addressing the infrastructure. The years of deferred maintenance will not be fixed overnight but we must start now to address this pressing issue. I will develop a strategic plan of action that will address our water and sewer system, as well our decaying roads and sidewalks. A street and sidewalk replacement plan will be established as well as a plan for upgrading our recreation facilities for our youth.
The poor condition of the current Public Safety facilities has long been discussed but minimal action has been taken. The deplorable condition of the current building needs to be addressed to retain officers and restore morale within the Public Safety Department. We need to provide a safe, state of the art environment for the people who risk their lives protecting this community and ensure that people who go astray of the law are processed and managed in a secure and stable environment. We cannot and will not keep dodging the ADA compliance issues of this public building. I will take immediate action, advocating locally and at the state and federal levels, to develop a plan for securing funding for a new facility/facilities.
